No, with Fast (isp) - UK. Any way, the 2700HGV is not seeing any ADSL connection. I reverted to my old router which worked as soon as it was connected! Seems that the 2700 is broken, all I did was reset it. Maybe try another method of flash/DNS poisoning? They are usually pretty reliable, so I would say it's knacked But worth another flash anyhow just to be sure |

hi all, can you help... i'm trying to up the wireless output, when i use opera, halfway down the page after clicking source i get a message which is like encorporated into the script ..

I found the Opera method a bit hit and miss, it took a flash with the Singtel firmware before my power increased on a dual SSID. Now I have 6 power levels but using Net Stumbler there isn't a massive difference between low and high - but it is noticable.
It's a shame the router doesn't have a connection for an external aerial or the range could be boosted further without having to turn the power up. 6dB gain = x4 and 10dB = x10, so 100mW in to an aerial with a 6dB gain would be the equivalent of 400mW in to the type of serial the 2700HGV has. My old DLINK G604T with 624 firmware and a 9dB aerial is a lot stronger than the 2700HGV on full power. I'm also noticing that the singtel firmware is not as good as the original BT stuff. Data throughput is nowhere ner what it used to be. I'm still experimenting but I can see myself getting shut soon and buying one of the £25 Linksys 2.4/5GHz dual band routers from ebay. People are asking silly money for the 2700HGV at the moment, one is going for around £40!!! As far as I know there isn't a way of recovering the router just yet, but keep hold just in case someone gets hold of the software. I did my DLINK one by using various telnet commands and a strange program that revived it after about 20 goes. |

Well guys, anyone can help me on this one?
I have a BT 2700HGV Dual SSID 4201-003003-008 reflashed with SingTel Firmware. The problem is that i cant use this router to work with my IPTV Decoder, the reason is that for IPTV there shoud be two PVC adapters set up om bridge mode. I belive that SingTel firmware (5.29.117.3) goes in conflict with previous BT firmware (5.29.117.6) and doesnt allow Multi-Broadband Link – Configuration on page http://gateway.2wire.net/xslt?PAGE=J41. I was wandering if there is a chance to get original firmware for BT 2700HGV Dual SSID 4201-003003-008 or possibly someone might know how to add a new PVC link on SingTel firmware. Cheers. I suspect the files at http://download.cms.2wire.com/DOWNLOAD/upgrade/ Anybody can explan me why http://download.cms.2wire.com/DOWNLOAD/upgrade/ comes out in a pik screen saying 403 Forbidden The requested URL '/DOWNLOAD/upgrade/' resolves to a directory that has indexing disabled. ? I need to get firmware (5.29.117.6) for my Dual SSID 2wire 2700hgv -PLEASE HELP Last edited by bouncingjohn; 25-November-2008 at 00:22. |

I have been given another 2700HGV by a friend who didn't like the look of it, it still has the original BT firmware so I tried a few tests.
I've now compared two 2700HGVs which are only about 6 months old. One was flashed by me to have Singtel firmware and the other is plain standard BT. Both dual SSID models etc. Using the Opera scripts and monitoring from 30ft away with a laptop and NetStumbler, there is NO increase in signal with the BT firmware. Using the Singtel firmware power level 4 is the maximum, 10 is no different! level 4 is equivalent to the 2700HGV running BT firmware out of the box. Using the script on the BT one will only lower the power, not make it higher. The same for the Singtel. I was amazed at people making false claims when selling them on ebay suggesting they can give out 400mW! Some of the single early SSID models probably could, but not the later dual SSID models. The only way to see it for yourself is to measure the current the router takes at different power levels. I also noticed that the Singtel firmware gives errors - it can't seem to talk to the exchange as well as the BT firmware which gives no errors. Also the "throughput" of the data is a lot higher with BT firmware than the Singtel. I downloaded a few files from the same site at different times of the day - the Singtel was running some 400K slower on my line even though the sync speed is exactly the same on both routers! I had thought it was something to do with QoS settings. I do run CfosSpeed on the computer and switching it off makes no difference. I've tried both wireless and wired and the Singtel firmware is not as good as the standard BT firmware on my phone line. I am only 300m from the exchange I am connected to which is handy. I'm still experimenting! After using both Singtel and BT firmware, I would go for BT every time although I do see why people flash them. The firewall is far more effective on the 2700HGV than my Netgear or DLINK. |

Flashing them makes them easier to sell on Ebay. Folk don't want to be faffing around with javascript save and dns poisoningPersonally I like the Singtel firmware and it's quite stable for me and I'm heading for 2k from my exchange |

HI GUYS and Girls How did it get the v6 firmware on it? Has it been used on a BT ISP service? The bad news is I think you have had it as there is no way to downgrade from v6 firmware that I know of. Last edited by BritBrat; 30-November-2008 at 16:31. Reason: Corrected Spelling |

Must have been shiped with the v6 firmware then.
That is good news for us but not so good for you unless you do the deal with Patio. I guess Patio wants to see the v6 and play around with it. |

For broadband IP address you should select 'Obtain IP address automatically.'

HI guys Which type of 2700HGV did you have? As far as I know once you have red lights there is no way to recover it. Unless someone on here knows different? I certainly can't find any programs or even sites that mention it. When I flashed mine I switched off the firewall on the PC, turned every program off that was running apart from Internet Explorer, then went for it. Near the end it took a while to restart after saying completed, so I just left it until it was ready - resisting the temptation to pull the plug out. |

When I flash mine I don't worry about proggies running in the backround, I just steam into itYou have flashed a Twin SSID with the SBC Firmware. It's shagged full stop The only way to recover it is to move to the US and send to 2wire for jtagging The cheapest way is to get another, fleabay is a good place, maybe get one already unlocked |

Why does the router accept the wrong firmware, doesn't it check or isn't it clever enough for that? I'm still waiting to see if I'm subjected to an auto-update of the BT firmware. So far nothing has happened.
If only there was a program to reset the 2700HGV, there must be loads of "broken" ones about. I like the way BT advise in the book they will not work with other ISPs. |
