I've successfully set up the home hub to connect to another router and get online through it. I also have the hubphone working with sipgate (voip provider). I have been playing at home with an asterisk/trixbox server and am wondering if anyone has had any success in using the hubphone as a sip client for a local server.
I have tried setting the proxy and registration addresses to that of the local server but have not been able to get it working as yet.

hi, i have gone through the whole of this thread and have tried to unlock my home hub over and over but no joy, first the only way i can get the update program to find the home hub is to hold the wireless button while it powers up, then when i run the updater on the detected device page under info it says "invalid system software transferred". When i select the .bli file and click next the progress bar gets to where it says "the system software is being transferred" and fails it then says "failed to transfer the system software, the device is not responding anymore, check the device is connected and up and running." the last line then either says "invalid system software transferred" or "kernel mode activated by button".

I have put all the static ip address settings the way everyone says, i have tried using the original file edited by me, and a pre edited one i just dont know what else to try. Help!

Mutly, What procedure are you using? If you use Mikey's procedure contained in my zip package, you should have no problem.

i have use mickys instructions, the only way i can get it to find the router is to hold the wirless button while powering up, then it doesnt ask for user/password it just goes into sellecting the file then quits when it gets to transferring file.

does the home hub haveing firmware version 6.2.2.6 on it make any difference as its trying to downgrade?

Try this:

1) Set up your PC Ethernet Properties to get IP Address Automatically
2) Connect your PC to the Router Eth1 Port with the Yellow Cable
3) Switch on the Router and wait until it finishes its Boot sequence
4) Press and hold the Wireless button for 20 seconds then release and wait until the Router re-boots.

Now follow Mikeys Procedure from Step 3.

Default Cant' get Hhub to connect through netgear router

Help

I'm trying to connect the homehub through a sky netgear router and have followed the instructions on the previous page to try and enable this.
When i complete the procedure and connect the two routers the data cable on the Homehub flashes but all the other flights stay off. I am then unable to access the router on its normal IP address either via the web browser or telnet.
Can anyone give me any ideas as to what i'm doing wrong?
The firmware on the hub is 6.2.2.6, i've gone the process of creating a root user and then typing in

:ip rtadd dst=0.0.0.0 gateway=192.168.1.252 intf=LocalNetwork
:dns client dnsadd addr=192.168.1.252
:dns server config WANDownSpoofing=disabled
:dns server route add dns=192.168.1.252 intf=LocalNetwork
:voice config intf=LocalNetwork
:system config defaultconnection=LocalNetwork
:config save filename=user

i've changed 192.168.1.252 to 192.168.0.1 (the ip of the netgear router) and disabled DHCP on the homehub. Do i need to change the 0.0.0.0 to something else as well?

Please help this is driving me mad!

Mutly,

If you can log in to the HH then you are almost there....

When you run the updater, it may not find the HH at the first attempt. There is a retry facility on the updater panel. Keep re-trying and it will usually find the HH on the second or third attempt.

CDTI, Yes you can do this by "sharing" the Printer on your Desktop PC on the LAN. In a nutshell:

1) Install the Printer as a Local Printer on each PC. This will install the Drivers on each PC.
2) Ensure that your LAN IP range is defined as a safe zone to your Firewalls.
3)Enable File and Printer Sharing on the Desktop PC
4) Re-Boot all devices.
5) The Desktop installed Printer will appear as a "Shared" Printer on your Laptop and you should be able to print to it. Of course, the Desktop computer has to be running...

Edit: I forgot to add that all PCs need to be in the same Workgroup

Question firmware exncryption format

I was wondering if the BLI filename is infact a reference to MMC cards with BLI, i.e. flash cards with onboard hardware decrypt like in the Sony PS.
If this is indeed the case then key is normally double encrypted, the last encryption being for the specific decoding machine.
Since the BLI file is the same for each machine this would hopeful mean that the key is only singly encrypted and hence someone with an BLI enable MMC card and reader and the key via FTP can decrypt the BLI file and post the decrypted contents.

So has anyone out there got a MMC card with BLI like the ones here http://soonleader.en.alibaba.com/off...e_Devices.html

Further if you look at see http://www.the-scream.co.uk/forums/t25564.html
on the picture of the back of the circuit board behinf CPU there might have been the mounting point for a mmc card. I think that the HH is now using the micro version of MMC and the device is now hidden under the CPU.
If it is then the really old HH might still have used startard size mmc card and hence removing and connecting to a pc with magic gate card reader will give full access to www server etc.

Question Re: Unlocking BT Home Hub **Upgrade at your own risk**

I've been given a Home Hub and was wondering what to do with it, and you guys have been a tremendous help, but have I spotted somethings I have been trying to do for years.
Is it possible to use one of these hubs to provide ethernet access to a dial-up ISP ???
You see there are times when I cannot use a conventional 56K modem as the computer side is either RS232 or USB, so I have used an Linux machine as a router to bridge from rs232 to ethernet.
Is it possible to do this with a hacked Home Hub

Mutly, Do you want to send it to me and if I can flash it, you can send me the postage to send it back. If is is indeed dead, you will have lost the one way postage.

Smile Re: Unlocking BT Home Hub **Upgrade at your own risk**

I used Wheel-nut's files
All I need is a simple wireless access point ont ADSL - no phone, games of fancy stuff.
The change of firmware worked OK on BT version 6.2.2.6.
Just one tip, I think the computer you are usiing to access the HomeHub would be better with a fixed I/P. I suggest 192.168.1.33
As it went through the upgrade it warned me in red that it was a "downgrade"
But now it does what I want.
If Wheel_nut is near Pontefract anytime, I owe you a pint !!

Hi Derek001,

Glad that you have what you need. The package I created is a consolidation of the efforts of many contributors on this forum, mainly Mikey who created the modified Firmware file and the concise procedure.

You tip about using a fixed IP address is a good one and it may help Mutly if he hasn't already run amok with his hatchet!

Best regards, Wheel_nut

Ok, I've read through all the posts, thought to myself this doesn't sound too hard as i only want to use it for other ISP's, went to download the software and the links are broke.

Anyone got any ideas where i can find the software to do it with?

Neil
