Using ZZN1AA6.196.bli I still get the 'Authentication failed!' error when using Wheel_Nuts flash kit.

Current version is 6.2.6.C - I noticed someone else had this error recently, although they erre using the wrong bli file. This is driving me nuts!

The authentication failed error occurs just before you write the image?
it is asking for the routers admin login password, the same one as the web page advanced secton and telnet. Have you tried kernal mode reflash? this being power the router whilst holding hown the handset detect button until all the lights bar one go off?

Bought cheap new HH with phone for use with talktalk LLU cos since talktalk LLUd my Netgear DG834GT keeps dropping out, TT say cos its not ADSL2! was it a mistake?
following the threads + other sites god must have been some night oil burnt!

Attempting to get going with 6.2.2.6 rather than revert so may have chance to get the phone going..

so far with 6.2.2.6
----------------------------
$ telnet 192.168.1.254
log in userid admin password admin
run following to get root access (thanks http://www.homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?n=HowTo.GetRoot)

:script add name = pwn command = "user add name = hubhax0r password = hubhax0r role = root descr = r00t"
:script run name = pwn pars = ""
---------------------------------
log in via web interface http://192.168.1.254 - userid admin password admin
download user.ini
http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/backup/user.ini?0=&1=
http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/backup/user.ini

or Double-slash Authentication Bypass (thanks http://www.gnucitizen.org/blog/bt-ho...-bt-home-hub-4)
Dump config file: http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/backup/user.ini//

from http://www.homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?n=HowTo.GetRoot
-------------------------------
6. Open the user.ini file in your favorite text editor (notepad etc). Search for the section called ‘mlpuser.ini’. In here there should be a line similar to:

add name=admin password=_CYP_12345678901234 role=Administrator hash2=12345678901234

1. Change the ‘role=Administrator’ part of the line to ‘role=SuperUser’ and save the file. I have a feeling that case IS important.
2. Use your web browser to restore the configuration to the router (it’s on the same page as the backup button).

Restore user.ini: http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/bandr//

telnet 192.168.1.254
log in admin/admin

stop auto upgrades
cwmp config state=disabled
cwmp config periodicInform=disabled
config save filename=user
exit

restart in web attempted to change user info to talktalk.net but no go
Can not authenticate
testing indicated DSL ok
ATM "Could not send loopback cell"
PPP "Your connection is currently down"

tried messing with the User.ini to get an authenticated PPPoA looking at pepsi's #736 but no go
Any one with a authenticated PPPoA user.ini on 6.2.2.6?

you won't be able to get authenticated pppoa on the home hub with any bt firmware, although you could either bridge the interface, use the netgear to authenticate, then loop it back to enable home hub wifi/voip use.

http://homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?n=HowTo.Bridge

or you could just flash the thomson firmware, though you'll lose voip.

Thanks Austin_KW & Moog. The solution was based on the Austin_KW suggestion with some tweaks here and there. Good news is that I post this using my HH running Thomson 5.9.1.6, so it can be done!

I'll be amazed if anyone gets a 6.2.6.C to work using only Wheel_Nuts flash kit since I was VERY careful to follow everything to the letter. Wont bore you all, but if anyone needs the gory details then just ask.

My ver. 6.2.6.C - current one.
Had the same problem - authentication error when reflashing. Solution - same as for Austin_KW.
First downgrade to older BT firmware
Then reflash with SpeedTouch 7G firmware ver. 6.1.9.6
Works with TalkTalk like a charm

I have the latest revision 6.2.6.c but using the guide mentioned about 2 posts up STILL doesnt work. It gets to about 20% but then jumps to 100% and says it failed to complete.

Any ideas why?

Hammy, Yes, It can't be done (yet!).

Truffle, Did you

a) Use an Ethernet Wired connection
b) Use a fixed IP Addtess for your PC (192.168.1.20)
c) Disable your Antivirus Program(s)
d) Disable your software Firewalls

Finally, If the upgrade fails, retry it again until it completes. It sometimes takes two or more attempts.

Let us know how you get on. I think I need to update the procedure.

Would somebody be so kind as to do a STEP by STEP "IDIOTS GUIDE" to linking 2 home hubs together. I have managed to aqcuire a second home hub and I am told you can use won as a THOMPSON and then link the other as a BT hub for use of VOIP.

However I really need a straight forward guide to this.

THanks in advance and keep up the good work. LONG LIVE THE HACKING COMMUNITY and BRING on the modded firmware to allow any ISP and voip through 1 router!!!

Default Re: Unlocking BT Home Hub **Upgrade at your own risk**

i may do one in the future on homehubhacks.com, but for now...

before i start, you could probably accomplish the same thing using any router as the second router, not necessarily a home hub.

secondly, there's two ways you could do it. one being use thomson as router connected to pstn, then connect the home hub to the thomson with one cable. this would allow voip calls through the second router, but for pstn calls you'd need to add another phone cable from the filtered phone line to the home hub.

the second way to do it is use the bt hh as the router connected to pstn, bridge the internet interface, connect the thomson to the bt with two cables and let the thomson sign in to the internet then send internet data back to the bt for voip. this would negate the need for a seperate pstn line running to the bt, but would lose you access to any ethernet sockets on either of the routers.

and as num 1 is easier to understand...

1. Connect the Thomson HH to the internet as normal.

2. Leave the thomson alone now, connect your pc to the BT HH and open a telnet session to it. Go too Start > Run in windows and type "telnet 192.168.1.254". Type in "admin" as both username and password.
3. http://homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?n=HowTo.GetRoot
Go there, scroll down to the Script Subsystem Method and type in the two lines listed there in to telnet.
4. Type "exit".

5. You only need to do this bit because, as you're connecting two HHs together, they'll both have the same IP by default, so... in a web browser go to 192.168.1.254, go to Advanced (user name and password "hubhax0r") > Continue > IP Addresses and click Edit next to 192.168.1.254/24. Change it to 192.168.1.253 and hit apply.
6. On the same page, untick the box that says "Use DHCP Server" and hit apply.

7. Telnet to 192.168.1.253. If this doesn't work, step 5 went wrong somehow. maybe there's another apply button, or you gotta restart the HH or something. Use user name and password "hubhax0r"
8. http://homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?...outeInternally
Go there and type in the sever lines of code in to telnet, but CHANGE all instances of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254.

9. Now connect ethernet 1 on the HH to ethernet 2 on the Thomson. Connect your PC to ethernet 1 on the thomson and you should be able to access both 192.168.1.254 (thomson) and 192.168.1.253 (bt) from a browser. The BT should also show voip as online if you've set up the sip details correctly.

http://homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?n=HowTo.Index
/\ there's info on setting up other voip providers on there. it's not so complicated once you know what to do. any problems, just ask.

sorry if this is going over ground already covered, I have updated the firmware in my home hub and when you log into it the speedtouch interface comes up and all traces of BT has gone, however, I havent yet worked out how to tell it that its a US model and up the power of the transmitter, which is somthing I would like to do. anyone point me in the right direction please.
Yes I am aware that it is not strictly legal, but its for test reasons only

Titan105,

That is a function of s particular version of the 2-Wire 270HGV BT BUSINESS Hub and does not apply the BT Home Hub either with or without the installation of the ST7G Firmware.

Hey pepsi_max2k

I have tried this method over and over again to link the HH together,

Every time I try to change the IP address of the HH I lose it altogether and cannot access it again and thru telnet!

I turn off the DHCP first and then change the IP to 253 and hit apply but as you can imagine the bt page never comes back because the address has changed "apparently" and I cannot restart the HH because cannot get into the router menu to do so.

the router is at 6.2.2.6 which I beleive is the right version for this method!!

I am getting desperate now I have 2 Home Hubs and 2 other routers and I am desperately trying to get the VOIP working! 1 HH is as thonmpason and is connected to the net. the other is BT and I also have a lynksys 45g and a D-Link.

Thanks in advance

Ok so I have managed to get my 2 HH working together.

THe 1st in Thompson mode is connected to the internet and I am using this to right this message over ANOther ISP provider.

My second HH 6.2.2.6 is connected via ethernet to the Thompson and I can connect to both via web browser or telnet.

The problem I am having now is I cannot seem to get the VOIP to work although I have bridged connections etc.

PLEASE PLEASE can someone help me with this

Is 253 a good address, Is this not the address of the samba server on the hubs. So even if it changes you will have an address conflict with the sambe (file) server on the other hub. Use 252!

"Broadly speaking, the GPL allows anyone to modify and redistribute a piece of software covered by the license, as long as the modified code is returned to the developer community. The license also requires that software which incorporates GPL-covered code must itself be placed under the GPL"

This last statement suggests that BT is still in breach of the GPL.

for two home hubs wired togather with SIP and PSDN that goes up to 11 see
http://www.the-scream.co.uk/forums/t25843.html?

script to use with ADSL router as 192.168.1.1 is

:ip rtadd dst=0.0.0.0 gateway=192.168.1.1 intf=LocalNetwork
:dns client dnsadd addr=192.168.1.1
:dns server config WANDownSpoofing=disabled
:dns server route add dns=192.168.1.1 intf=LocalNetwork
:voice config intf=LocalNetwork
:system config defaultconnection=LocalNetwork
:config save filename=user

Just cut and paste into telnet
This will route all network traffic via router on 192.168.1.1 you will still have to enable that router to provide sip via your SIP server
