Thanks so much for the help people. Afetr all this messing I finally found the problem was my ethernet cable - was plugged into PORT 2 - switched it to PORT 1 and it worked first time. How stupid do I feel?!

USE PORT 1!!!!!!

Anyways - thanks again!

JP, No your HH will not revert to BT Firmware. That is a function of the BT Firmware which you are not now using. Glad you got sorted. I have added the Port 1 to the readme file which I will update some time soon. I think the package should be a sticky but I don't know how to make that happen.

Yes, the Black HH is identical under the covers afaik. Now, the latest BT adverts are showing a new shape HH with rounded corners. I don't know anything about that one.

Hi All

I see lots of really good work going on here.

I have a HH with 6.1.1.M which I want to connect to a Zoom X6 ADSL modem (with 4 net ports), so that I can use the HH as a Sipgate connection (VoIP).

I have followed the guide by pepsi_max2K on page 56 except that I left the HH I.P. at 192.168.1.254 as I do not have 2 "7G type" routers (The zoom I.P. is 10.0.0.2).

I have set all my net devices and PC's to have static I.P's.

When I connect the HH direct via ethernet to a PC I can get Telnet or Browser to view the HH, but when I connect it via the Zoom router, I cannot get the HH to be visible, using firefox or Telnet.

While connected like this I can view the control console of the Zoom modem using firefox by typing 10.0.0.2, on all PC's.

Any suggestions as I do not have a lot of I.P. experience??

Keep up the collective good work!!!!!

@russ17

You need the devices on the same network.

Either put the homehub on the 10.0 network (it may already have a 10. address) Cant remember as I have reflashed mine. But then you need to access it using its 10. address and set the routing to internet to be your 10.0.0.2 device

Or put the Zoom on the 192.168.1.x subnet (eg set its address to 192.168.1.1/24)

@Austin_KW

Thanks - That works OK - I can now log into both routers with a 10.*.*.* format.

@Everyone

I have registered with Sipgate - typed in the account info in "telephony"-"config"-"Expert Config" using the admin login and password to get to advanced in the HH.
I have enabled telephony in the HH and in "My Telephones" my sipgate number will ring "All". I have a standadrd DECT phone connected to the "phone1" socket with the adapter with a green plug.

The HH is shown as connected to broadband, but obviously the DSL line is not synchronised.

Is there anything else I need to do to get the SIP signal activated on the HH??

When I go to Sipgate website, the device is shown as offline.

Only the "wireless" and "data" LED's are lit/flashing on the HH.

If I ring the SIPGate number there is no response - line appears dead.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hi there. I'm having the same problem as Earth085, and I've tried flashing the Homehub running firmware 6.2.6E with version 6.2.2.6 and all I keep getting is Upgrade failure messages, despite ensuring everything everything is as it should be. Ip is static, and firewall and AV is off.

Any suggestions??

Hi

For anyone having trouble downgrading from firmware 6.2.6x, I've managed to do it, but only to the Thomson 6.1.9.6 firmware with the tools supplied on page 59/60 of this forum. It seems you have to start the Homehub in safe mode, and you have to VERY quick about it. Anyway, it's worked. It won't work with BT firmware though for some reason.

To start the homehub in safe mode, just press the wireless association button, and hold it, unplug it keeping hold og the wireless association button, and plug it back in, still pressing the button for a further 5 seconds until all the lights go off. The Homehub is now in Safe mode.

AT LAST!!!!! Got VOIP Working

Despite not being on BT Broadband, I acquired a brand new home hub and hub phone. I tried for ages to downgrade from the latest 6.2.2.6E firmware with no luck, the only thing I could get to work was to download the HubFirmwareRecovery_6226.zip file and do a recovery by putting the hub in to restore mode and using that package to get me back to a plain 6.2.2.6, immediately after applying the firmware I found I could telnet in. I don't believe telnet is enabled on any of the lettered firmwares.

I then followed the tutorials from homehubhacks.co.uk and was able to get freecall working. With the home hub sat on my network behind a speedtouch 780 router.

I have a question though! None of these sites tell you how much the receiving party pays for the call, I called a polish mobile, and he still had to pay for receiving the call, as it appeared international!!!

I thought the whole point of these services was that call is routed to a geographical location close to the area your are calling? Does anyone know any better services or a way to solve this problem???????

Thanks in Advance.

Follow up from last post......

I am either a flipping genius, or if this not new information....... really flipping slow.

To get the homehub to work as a normal DECT phone, whilst not functioning as a modem!!!!!

If you have a BT Filtered Faceplate.... Connect a micro filter to the phone socket, and plug the modem of your homehub into the modem port of the filter.

Alternatively on an unfiltered socket.... daisy chain two filters off one another and plug the modem port of the home hub into the second filtered one.

I can now use the hub phone as DECT Cordless phone even though my broandband is with BE, and the modem is my speedtouch, and once my voip problem is solved this is a dream solution.

I can confirm that BBtalk works even when not on BT network and the filter piggybacking still works to give landline and SIP

http://homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?n=HowTo.Bridge

the phone will do both voip and pstn as it has both the unfiltered phone line plugged in to it, will function as an adsl2+ modem bridge, then gain voip functionality from a cable looped back to it from an exernal router/hub. the dect will work as it still uses the BT firmware, as should any other BT related functions (though not that need a BT account to work).

as for your voip charges, to you it appears as if the person you're calling is local (which technically doesn't matter anyway as you now pay whatever the voip provider charge you, not BT). to the person you're calling you'll probably still appear as international, as you should probably still have your caller id passed through which will be a UK one. not too sure how it works but... whatever they're being charged is down to whoever their phone provider is, nothing to do with what phone provider you use so there's not much you can do about it (unless you want to use a fake caller id...).

Thanks to this thread and experimentation I have everything working how I want it now, I don't think I will ever use the HH as my modem to be honest.

I thought the modem part of the HH was locked hard to BT, ie people had tried to change settings but to no effect? I mean I got it to sync, but I didn't try alternating any settings, so I dunno.

But in any case the HH only syncs at 14~meg, whereas the speedtouch will sync at ~20meg. I know I can use the dmt tool, if I downgrade the HH to an earlier firmware, but I plan to eventially replace the speedtouch780, with something like a dg834gt for firmware hacking, then it will interesting to see if my setup still works.

Only thing left to do is to figure out PSTN breakout so I can switch between VOIP and PSTN at will on the hub phone without fiddling with the router, but there is a tutorial for that on homehubhacks.co.uk, or is it a case of just dialling 9 or something simple? Cant test right now.

Here is my setup for anyone interested:

For VOIP:
BE* Internet --> Speedtouch 780 --->Network--->HomeHub Static IP

For VOICE:
Phoneline <--- Phone Socket on Filtered Faceplate <--- Modem Socket on MicroFilter <---Homehub<-- DECT Hub Phone

Still not sure what to do about the VOIP provider as the people I need to call in Poland are all on mobiles, so I definitely need one where the call appears as local to them. Sort of signing up for polish VOIP.

I thought I'd come back and report my success as I noticed a lot of people recently seemed to be struggling. The hub I have is brand new. So I can attest it can be done.

Good evening guys and gals. First off, this is my first posting, and I'm in awe of you all!
I have bought a used HH off e-Bay, and reading these threads, I have managed to flash the thing, and have now configured it to run as a Speedtouch on my BT Broadband set-up. I have managed to configure it and register it with my sipgate account, BUT can I hell as like get the hub phone to ring (or even register correctly) with the HH. I don't know whether it is goosed or not, but it appears to work OK (the antenna pict is flashing though). As a backup, I have connected a DECT phone to the hub, it dials out on my BT number. The Speedtouch is configured on Telephony to ring all (if I set it to DECT 1 to 5 I lose sipgate registration). So, after many nights of frustration, and much success, I'm now stuck by potentially failed hardware!
Can anyone shine any light on the registering/set-up and operation of the HH phone please? I'm hoping to get all this set up before I go to France in two weeks!
Ta in advance.

dect phone only works on bt firmware. are you really using BT as isp? in which case, you may as well keep the default firmware and just mod it to use sipgate. check http://homehubhacks.co.uk/index.php?...IPUsingSIPGATE for more.
