Hi there - just moved house and have found a bt home hub in the loft
- have plugged it in and all the lights come on and then after about 20 secs all go off and then after another 20 seconds come on again! I have managed to wirelessly connect to it and wire connect to it but can't seem to get to the set up pages using 192.168.1.254 or bthomehub.home have also tried USB but nothing..... no response.... the part number is 027262 so I believe it is a Thompson one.... Also the only way to connect is to set the IP address as it will not auto obtain it.....Any one got any idea how I can get to the set up page? Cheers.... |

Dont use IE7, will not work with older firmware. Use firefox.
For the auto IP adresss, the dhcp server may be disabled or if you are using vista you may need a registry hack to disable the dhcp broadcast flag. |

1.254 is default but it is a valid point, you do not know how it has been modified. Factory reset by holding the wireless assoc button until it reboots.

Austin_KW Thanks for reply am using firefox on XP so I'm guessing the dhcp server is disabled as there is no info when using 'ipcong /all' at cmd prompt - any ideas how to enable it!!!?

From memory you hold the wireless button until all the lights flash and it reboots.
There is also a recovery mode where you hold the button at powerup and run the recovery utility. But if the wireless is working it should not be bricked. You might also try the other address for the hub; http://10.0.0.138 (first give your pc a static address on the 10.0.0.0/24 subnet) |

Thanks for you help - the 10.0.0.138 didn't work either so found that if I did the following:
Assign the fixed IP address of 192.168.1.100, subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, gateway of 192.168.1.254, and primary DNS of 192.168.1.254 Then held the WA button for 30 secs until the data light came on only - and then ran the BT upgrade wizard hey presto once put back to auto obtain I can now get access via 192.168.1.254!!!! VERY HAPPY NOW! Thanks for you help |
