Default Connecting to adsl though 3com router

I have a friend who up until recently has been connected to his aol adsl with no problems using his wireless 3com router, however a day or 2 ago it suddenly stopped connecting,

unfortunatly he then went and reset his router settings, so now theres no chance of getting it working without some help.

AOL helpfully tell us that 3com routers aren't supported and theres nothing they can do, despite the fact it's been in use for years, they also told us that they couldn't see the router from their end, I'm not entirely sure I believe this, as when you plug the adsl into the router the sync light comes on and after a few flashes stays constantly lit,

The only thing i can think of is within the internet settings of the router, where you select PPPoE within this, there is a couple of fields for an ip address and a dns address, and currently, its just set to 0.0.0.0 which strikes me as being wrong... but then I'm no expert at this stuff.

Anyone able to shed any light on this and help us get it working?

This light shows that it's synced with the exchange. Your isp (AOL) cannot 'see' you until you fully log onto their network.

This should be able to help you on your way to getting connected again
