i have transferred loads of pictures to a 2 gig sd memory card for my in laws xmas pressie (digi frame) . when i put card into pc to add more files i noticed all the names of the pics had been changed to some gobbledy gook and could not be opened.a box came up and said the filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect.
some of the folders are empty and the rest of the pic files ask what do i want them to be opened with! any help would be appreciated i cannot lose these files! thanks |

it might be the card has got corrupted,. when removing flash cards it's best to click 'eject hardware' or some such to reduce the chances of that happening
you might try and undelete type utility or some kind of file restorer app,. is a couple linked in http://www.the-scream.co.uk/forums/t2055.html? |

On an SD card, there is a little "switch" on one edge. In one position the card is write protected. In the other position, it is write enabled

Hiya.
IrfanView can do conversions, singular or in batch form. Install and run the program, on the toolbar select File > Batch Conversion/Rename and go from there. Its quite simple to use, I have used it for years. It has many other functions aswell, like Slideshow, editing, etc, and its FREE. ![]() http://www.irfanview.net/
