If I have put this in the wrong forum please feel free to move it, thank you.
My telephone line is noisy, crackling and high pitched noise. Now and again is cuts my broadband connection. I can still make and receive phone calls though. I phoned BT and they say there is no fault on my line and suggested a few things to try, ie unplugging everything... and plugging things back one at a time. I did this, plugged back the two phones one at a time into the main socket and there was no noise. I then plugged the broadband filter in and the noise re-appeared. I put a new filter in and the noise is still there. Not sure what to try next, any ideas please. Thank you.

basically, after making sure that this fault is not being caused by any thing that you have connected to the bt master socket(inc any extensions, filters)if you posibly can,as for the fault getting fixed that would be down to your Isp to arrange with bt openreach, not yourself, the only part of it down to yourself is the making and recieving calls and sms text msg's,otherwise they won't engage with you,my advice double check anything that is connected to you master socket(including extensions)basically unscrew the faceplate from it and plug your telephone and router via a filter into it, and re start the router see if it still occures, just that if the isp gets them out and they find the fault to be somthing that is connected of yours causing it,they will charge you for the visit,if it does pester your isp they have a duty to customers to sort thing such as this out,if they refuse to help, then i would refuse to pay em, and switch to a better isp

key thing is to remove everything (phones / fax / answer machines / extention cords / adsl filters / adsl modems etc) and plug a phone into the master and see if there is still noise on the line,. if there is noise then it could still be a dodgy wired extention but it will rule out most common causes
once you are confident it's a fault with BT line then ask for an engineer visit - or report the fault bt 150 some other notes in quiet line tests

I took every out and just plug one phone in and the crackes were still there. Tried another phone and the same.
Phoned BT and engineer coming Monday morning. Hope it is their line because if not they say it will cost £125 +VAT !!!!!! The phone is now dead, nothing, BUT I can still connect to the internet. Now that I don't understand.

That can happen, it happened to me a few years ago. I had BB but no dial tone.
If you contact BT (your line is with BT?) then they can transfer all your calls to your mobile phone (at NO extra charge) until it's resolved and they should keep you informed of how the problem is being progressed to your mobile.
