Just a little disk drive monitor I slapped together.
http://www.hiddenvision.co.uk/drivespace Thought it may be handy for someone else It is a Multistart application so you can start it more than once. Open for comments and can make required updates if asked nicely. Hv. |

I can see that people visit the page but only a few takers for the download.
Ahh, once a few start using it then I am sure the word will get about. There is two versions now. The original 'single drive' display is still available but is now no longer being updated. The newer 'Beta' multi drive version is evolving and has many newer functions over the original. It does almost everything I wanted now so I shall await any sugestions. Hv. |

Would help if I could understand what this was actually for.
If I want to check my drive space all I do is open 'my computer'. I think a little more explanation / usage examples might help your case. |

Hey Memfis ( you supprise me! )
Yes, true, there are many ways to check the available drive space on a disk. This tool monitors the drive/s constantly and displays the results constantly. Saves having to goto my computer, right clicking and selecting properties each time. It also advises of how much space has been used or freed since the app started. I could spend more time to explain why I wrote it (for myself) but all that would take longer than someone simply running the app and discovering something new. I suspect people do not like to run software on their computers. Which is odd, as computers without software are just useless boxes of components. Hv. |

True but at the same time people aren't going to install something they've never heard of just to see what it does. However the Application name and the title of this thread gives a good clue as to what the application does. If people are not willing to try it then I suspect that they are not the sort of people that will use it anyway. I also suspect that if I offered up a small application to get free porn then the uptake would be larger with little thought of what the application actually does. No luck required as I don't care if people use it or not. Hv.

Hey silver,
I have changed the screen shot on the download page, hopefully it is a little more obvious now.. I have also added a full install kit so that it can be installed and Un-installed in the conventional way. For those that already have the required VB system files installed (most likley unless it is a bare machine) you can just use the exe file alone. Version is 1.0.0.9 currently Hv. Not being a 'real tecchie' I wonder why I'd need this prog. If I can see what space is left on my PC by looking at 'my computer', isn't that all I'd need to do to see if I needed to clear out any junk ?

Hi Centaur,
You don't NEED this application..... I Don't think I said that you did. Later that day !! Thought I would edit this post as it was a little blunt ! Yes that is all you need to do, although windows will prompt you when space starts to be critical, so realy you dont need to do anything until then. I shall try to explain what I wanted the application to do in some effort to enlighten those that are curious. I have an EEEPC machine in the corner that serves as a media center but it has very small disk drives. Getting fed up with Right clicking and selecting properties, I wanted something to display the free space in a less time consuming process. Thus the app was born. Once I used it I wanted more !!! (more functions as well as more diskspace) Thus the second "Multi drive" version has evolved. Personally I find it usefull to show how much space I have used or freed on the drives since start. That is something that windows won't tell you, certainly not on the fly with no interaction required. Also nothing pops up when you insert a USB drive to advise on the available space as far as I know. Yes true you can find the information in many places and in many ways, but I just got fed up having to look. As mentioned before, the application was written for my use in mind. It does the things I want because I have written it to do so, if it does not do the things you want, then you do different things to me. Software can be a very personal thing, more-so when you write it yourself. However, given the odds, there should be at least one other person in the computing world that thinks a simular way. As such they may just need (or like) the application also. Wrapping up to the point that I decided to share it. Hope that clears a few things up. Hv. Cheers M,
I saw it used on some site and thought it looked cool too.. Web design is not my thing so the site is hardly worth talking about. Current version for the Drivespace app is 1.0.0.10 A few changes and additional functions implemented at the request of some other users. If you already use the app then you only need replace the exe in the working folder. Hv. |

Just thought I would advise that we are up to about Version 30.
Thanks to all that have contributed ideas and given feedback. It has turned into a little monster from the Simple project I started.! No reports of it exploding computers or bursting Hard Drives into flames yet.. Hv.
