Question Windows Update Help

I wanted to get the latest update for Windows XP (http://www.update.microsoft.com/micr....aspx?ln=en-us)
but every time I start the download, it gets halfway before suddenly stopping and deleting everything it just put on my computer. Is there any explaination to this, and can I do anything to get that update?

if you have already lost all your data, then you may as well format it and re-install the o/s doing all the necessary updates before putting other apps ect on it,
it maybe malware, or a corrupt file system, btw hope you had it all backed up
