Default Program(s) or device(s) requesting attention!

After starting up my pc,the following message appears on my screen:

"Program(s) or device(s) requesting attention:

Microsoft Visual C+ Runtime Library program path:run (or ram?) Files\Common Files\Roxio shared\9.0\Shared\COM\Rox Watch9.exe Received: 12 June 2012 23:07:56

The problem happens because of a partial incompatibility with Windows Please contact the program or device manufacturer(s) for more information."

This appears to have started happening after installing some Windows updates (including updates for Microsoft security essentials). Not understanding some of the jargon (I'm no computer whizz!) or being able to find out what the items the message is referring to,via a google search,I used System Restore,to return the OS to the day before these updates were installed. Of course, this was not an ideal solution, because, there was,of course, the possibility that the problem would return;particularly if it was due to updates. But I thought I might be able to find some info on this in the interim.

My OS is Windows Home Premium
Service Pack 2 is installed
I use Firefox as my main browser
I did have the Comodo firewall on it,but uninstalled it when this problem occurred. There is a hardware firewall on my Wireless router,so I suppose I didn't need this, anyway!

Before I resort to contacting a program or device manufacturer, and I'm not sure who I should contact, anyway;can someone here, please explain why this problem might be occurring? If it is due to updates,I presume it will have happened to someone else, somewhere?! Needless to to say the pop up message has come back (more updates have been installed since).

You don't say which Windows OS you have, is it Vista or Win7 home premium ?

I take it you have Roxio cd/dvd burner installed, and if so, you may be right in that a windows update may have caused a conflict. Is there a later version of Roxio's drivers you could download, or, do you really need it as both Vista and Win 7 have cd burners and win7 has a dvd burner too ?

Thank you for your reply, centaur. I should have added the OS is Vista! I googled RoxWatch9.exe a bit earlier. This is,apparently,Roxio Creator 9. I have never used this & according to some posts I read,it can be a problem. The best thing to do is to,as you suggest, update,or remove,if I don't need it. As I have a cd burner on the pc,I decided to remove it. I performed this using Revo uninstaller. (It didn't show up in the Program Install/Uninstall feature or CC Cleaner). Revo took quite a while, using the Safe Mode. At one point,a prompt informed that there were two files that needed updating. These were *** Mirage, which I found out is actually 'Magic sports'. I have never used this & could not find the Program listed,so I opted to ignore the prompt & continue the uninstall. The other was File 2020,or something ( I don't seem to have made a note of it!!). I was unable to find anything on the web about it,so I chose to ignore this & proceed. Anyway,Roxio is now, apparently, uninstalled. Hopefully,I haven't created any other problems. Everything appears okay,so far........!!!
It seems to me that removing some programs from a pc is a bit like dealing with the cyber equivalent of Japanese knotweed. The way the software gets it's 'roots' into every 'crevice' of you're pc!
