Default Browsers?

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...-Browser.shtml The World browser & http://www.palemoon.org/ The pale Moon project. These were mentioned in another forum & as yet no one had used them or could really comment?

Appreciate any views

I haven't tried either of them, but I have used Waterfox, a 64-bit version of Firefox. It works fine, but I haven't really noticed any great improvements, or drawbacks, over the regular version.

Yes, mostly regular Firefox.

The main issue I have with the alternatives is that any updates tend to lag behind FF so they may not be quite as secure as they could be: Waterfox usually gets updates out within a week or so of the official build, but Pale Moon seems to be a couple of versions behind.

Having said that: try them all and see what you prefer.

I had not heard of alternate firefox builds (until this thread!) but after a quick look would tend to agree with bouncingjohn, unless you are something something very (very) specific were 1/10 of a second or access to 4gig+ram etc is going to be useful I would stick with the normal firefox

handy link I saw not so long ago http://lifehacker.com/5917714/browse...and-opera-1164

I didn't like the new 'on demand' or lazy loading of tabs on start of firefox,.

thankfully that behaviour can be turned off - under options > general and uncheck "don't load tabs unless selected"
