I have recently installed a water butt thing to catch rainwater off the garage to water the plants. Not only does it save tap water most plants prefer rainwater

I have stopped washing, which saves water

Seriously though.....

We try and use the washing machine only when there is a full load, as this save son detergent which in turn helps with the water system.

Likewise the dishwasher only goes on when there is a full load.

If I had a garden I would use a water butt or two also

I'm on a water meter so it's makes me more careful.

I have a water butt and a huge tank (that generally goes in lofts for the cold water to service the immersion heater) and they both filled over the winter but, alas, over the last month or so I have used nearly all of that to water my plants outside due to almost drought conditions here. Nearly all my plants are in tubs and pots so dry out very quickly.

I made a new year resolution this year to drink a glass of water a day (I know, it should be pints) and everytime I look into the clear water I think how lucky I am.

we've been planting pot plants

but seriously,. we've put those crystal things into the pots so they retain water better,. tho they still do dry out pretty quick.

Have a big garden water butt too although we're not keen gardeners so it always has plenty to spare.

Probably our biggest saving was a new washing machine, the old one lasted about 10 years & we just couldn't believe how little water the new ones use. It took us about three weeks before we believed the clothes were actually clean

A difference a clean & constant supply of water would make to many parts of the world is unbelievable.

Save Water Screamers.

Many years ago a teacher I knew showed me a site on the net where you could click and a certain amount of money was sent to an organisation that helps drills new wells. It was also an interactive site that children could use to understand the need for clean water.

Anyone know of it.

I have two water buts, one for the garden and one to top my two fishponds up when needed.

My greatest saving is using my neighbours loo. I recon that is a saving of over two gallons of water per flush, though I do not supose that helps in the Global side of things

Belated welcome to TS Elizabeth

Thanks for the link Steed - I've clicked and popped it in my favourites for a daily visit.

Wonder if our gurus could design something to help do this automatically on a daily basis?
