Question What is the Scream

Hi all I was just telling one of my brothers about this site, he declared that it sound like just another forum site .

So I put him straight with my definition of the Scream.

If you need help SCREAM and help will be given..
If you are confused SCREAM and you will be advised
If you are happy SCREAM and others will share your joy .
If you are sad SCREAM and comfort will be offered .
If you are angry SCREAM and others will listen.
If you can help SCREAM and you will be thanked

And if you just want a chat, DONT SCREAM just pop in and say hello, the natives are friendly .

I believe that ends my case for the defence

.....the Scream! is addictive.

Watch out Merlin - I see in you the symptoms of addiction

Thanks for those encouraging words - nice to read on a day when posts are a little sparse.

I like to think it's a group of drinkers down the pub. Not everybody always there but everybody there somewhen.

Default Cannot Possibly Agree

I definitely do not find 'My Posts' to have such a welcoming reaction on the Scream.

Well done Pisces!

For Merlin - Pisces requests "What is the Scream?" to be re-opened

Topic re-opened after a few, maybe inappropriate contentious posts, that have now been deleted.

Let's celebrate with self-back slapping and great happiness ....
Slap my back and I'll slap yours

Ok I have been away, I needed help with the building of my new Koi pond, and there were no Koi people on this forum. The extensive problems I had kept me away for longer than I expexted. . I have poped in over the weeks, but noticed a lack or area's to post in. as all that seemed to be going on is bickering)
and that was not for me.

And now it seems that some of you want your own little area, so you can bicker in private, with no intervention from the mods. My god do we not have enough problems in our lives, that we now feel we have to log in to an internet site, to find someone esle to argue with . I am all for a discussion on any topic going, and if I disagree with what some one else posts, I will voice my concerns regarding their posting, I will not however fall out with that person or insult them, they have a right to their own opinion, and I will accept that.

As to one posters sugestion that the Mods have their own agenda, as to what they want on or do not want on the forum. . Ok all those that want this site to go forward sign up here.............................................. ................

May I remind you before you sign on the dotted line of your duties.

1) to check the forum on a regular basis, in order to asatain that everything is running smoothley.
2) To check that no foul Language or obscene picture's have been posted.
3) To be aware when a thread is diversing from the original point, and if nessecary get it back on track.
4) To ensure that members remember what this site is about, and do not resort to insulting another members origin or their beliefs.

5) You may at some time or other, in order to fulfill your duties have to step in when thing start to go wrong, for this action you may or may not get critiscised by some of the members.

6) Last but not least. for all of this you will recieve no payment what so ever.

When I joined this site I was impressed, hence the reason for my description of what the scream stood for, and my reason for going back to this post.

To all of you new members that I have not had a chance to converse with, I offer my belated welcome to the Scream, it was one of the finest forums on the web, and it will regain that title.

Hello merlin

Magic is just an illusion until it becomes reality.
My Take is...Magic is reality untill reality becomes life, then it is just an illusion.

Incidently, I made a point elsewhere about forums but since it got no response ( nothing unusual there) I will say it again

Since ordinary people post here why should we expect this place to be differant to ordinary life.

Unless you have enlightened moderation, trying to make this place conform to some unnatural standard would seem foolhardy.

People do have differances, they do argue and they do fall out.

Thats life

But if everytime there is a whiff of dissention the thread is ****** on from a great height, people just won't bother.

Rant over

... but if there is no response to this post then thats my posting over.

Whats the point otherwise.

If you don't want an enlightened discussion even if you disaggree with me then fine.

Good Night Campers

Hi Dee Thanks for taking the time to reply, I do agree with you on some of the points you have raised. I enjoy a good disscussion, I like to hear other peoples points on what ever subject that is being disscussed. And yes at some point I will dissagree with what is being said, as will others to my comments, after all there are allways two sides to a story.

What I dissagree with is that it seems some members ( from what I have been reading,) are turning a disscussion in to a slanging match. If at any time I feel that no matter what I say, the person(s) on the other end continue to dissagree. I will leave the conversation, they have a right to believe what they want to believe, as I do. so a simple " lets leave it and agree to dissagree ".

I agree the real world can be a pain in the but, but for some our escape from it is places like this forum, where we can learn about things that we know nothing about. And also have the chance to talk and make friends from around the globe.

Have Disscussions by all means, agree to dissagree by all means,
but no one wants to join a site, where the members feel it is ok to slag each other off.

then with respect, why did you join as that has been going on here for as long as i can remember

it is not an everyday thing but it happens

some who have done it are still here, others have been banned or left

as dee says its life and will certainly continue here and on most other boards as long as there is more than 1 poster

My point merlin is to embrace disagreement instead of running from it, deleting it, editing it or banning posters who find themselves engaged in it.

Unless posts deteriorate to pure slagging off or start on that basis moderation should be geared to toleration, not suffocation.

Sometimes heat and discord can generate insight when true feelings are expressed without politics.

This will never happen if threads are nipped in the bud.

As I say, enlightened moderation is the only way.

Without it the place becomes sterile and boring, the death knell of any forum

Hi Tony

I agree there were some heated disscussions, but nothing to what I have been reading latley. At the end of the day you have to ask yourself, " do you want this site to continue " and if the answer is yes, then what do we need to do to achieve that aim.

A seperate area for members to carry on bickering is certainly not the answer.

Dee was that not my point . We as a forum have discussed topics from Welfare bennifit to child pornography, yet those disscussion although sometimes heated, have not led to the back biting that I have seen of late.

By allmeans discuss and agree or dissagree, we all have a point to put across., but let us remain civil.

this is my second time around here, my membership goes back longer that this one and it has been an unhappy place before

but nothing will change, maybe we should

Tony I do not live in the past, I can only state what the site was like when I joined. And as far as I am concerned it was and still is a good site to belong to.

then why say

but no one wants to join a site, where the members feel it is ok to slag each other off.
that is what was happenening and continued to happen after you joined

but this is going nowhere and will just degenerate so i have finished

there is no point to this discussion, i have no intension of going the same route as the other night!!!
