Default Heathrow

Can anyone explain why management decided to open Terminal Five on such a disastrous massive scale instead of moving things away from existing terminals at a more appropriate pace?

It's been mentioned at home too.
I suppose it cost them more to move it over slowly, quicker they move the sooner they can recuperate their costs.

This really is the final crunch. Earlier in week I had refused flight from Heathrow. Why should we have to go there when we have Gatwick which is closer and does not have the congestion associated with the M25 around Heathrow.

Guess the same applies to people from the North with good airports at Stanstead and Luton.

The damned awful parking not only affects staff - it causes grief to passengers too.

So I have just put a pledge to one of the action groups opposing further expansion of Heathrow ..... We will not fly again from Heathrow.

Maybe if many others do the same we will get a decent new airport at Maplin sands and investment in a damned good public transport system to enable all in the region to reach it.

Should have been constructed decades ago!!!!!!

PS Heard about staff not attending training sessions for the changeover. Was this on a large scale and were they expected to attend unpaid or without overtime payments? Knowing staff management relationships at the airport I guess there would have been co-operation if generous payments had been offered to people covering their existing posts and then doing overtime in the new terminal. Maybe the main purpose of the complete and sudden change was to keep payments to staff down?
