Smile Web sites worth looking at... ?

I expected to find a list of decent shopping web sites or price comparison thingies somewhere in this forum, but I couldn't find one.
So here's mine, you'll see it's short (, oh, er, missus!),
but with your help it'll get longer (, oh, er, missus!).

Computer bits - Scan UK

Computer bits price comparison - www.computerprices.co.uk

Price comparison 1 - Kelkoo
Price comparison 2 - Price guide
Price comparison 3 - Price Runner
Price comparison 4 - Oh, sod this. Let me know if you find anything useful in this lot

Personally, I;ve found it easier to search round the sites myself, anbd it certainly seems to find me the better bargains. If you're searching for cheap components, perhaps you should try the following sites:

www.ebuyer.com (generally very cheap)
overclock.co.uk
overclockers.co.uk
komplett.co.uk (yes, they are cheap, despite the current memory fiasco)
dabs.com
tekheads.co.uk

Generally, I think you'll find it quite a bit cheaper if you search yourself.

I meant to add, while scan.co.uk can generally be pretty cheap, they charge 10 for postage (unless u can get to Bolton), so many other places will be cheaper overall.

I hate DealTime. Not very objective. Only those who mega-dosh get listed in their search.

My recommendation for a great website worth looking at it is http://www.UKHotMovies.com - the film reviews are world-class

The best shopping portal I've used is http://www.mycashback.com - it pays cash rebates and has got about 600 shops (usual suspects - Argos, Tesco, AMazon, Ebay etc) . I bought a sofa online and got almost 70 back. I've also earned about 40 on CDs from CD Wow and some other stuff. They are offering a free 5 quid bonus.

Default Bakanda

You should really try Bakanda ... www.bakanda.com. Excellent site. Similar to mycashback but they have this really cool e-zee shop thing which saves loads of time if you're surfing for stuff to buy. I've already got 40-something quid in my account!

www.7dayshop.com for cam corder and digi camera batteries A Canon battery I needed was 45 from Canon dealers and 19 from 7day and it lasts longer in the camera than the original Canon battery. OK it does not have Canon stamped on it but otherwise exactly the same and longer life.

Also I was considering a Sony Ixus digi camera (5 mega pixels) from a well known national camera dealers it was 95 dearer than searching in Amazon plus the USB lead was thrown in.
I think some of these high street merchants are making a killing?

Likewise with extended guarantees, Fuji sell theres nearly 50% cheaper for the same length of time and cover., than the Indian restaurant merchants.

Check out www.cashbackfriends.com - you get 2 just for signing up and from looking around their cashback rates seem to be a lot higher than bakanda and greasypalm

Another Cashback site I wholeheartedly recommend to you all is Rpoints.

It offers points which are converted to cash at the rate of 1 point= 1 pence for most of your web-based shopping.

You get cashback from shopping at a huge range of websites including Amazon, CD-Wow and Argos.

You can even get points when you use rpoints to perform searches at Kelkoo, Dealtime and Pricerunner!

Well worth a look.

Apologies to buckster as it makes his post look a bit odd, but I've removed the one he was referring to. Not only was it spam, but it was double posted spam and really annoying at that.

Lightbulb Re: Web sites worth looking at... ?

I found a new site {link removed} which is great!
All major shops are there and by bookmarking the page I can easily go back.

I was fed up of searching the net to find the right shops or entering the shops url in internet explorer
this site has got all you need in one simple page!

try it on and let men know what you think
I even email them at {link removed} asking if they could add a link to John Lewis and they did it straight away! what a service!

edit : sorry we do not allow these type of refer links, not that you'll be back to read this. ~Memfis

Bakanda is the best in my view. I have checked out the others, including all lsited here, and found the Customer service I received from Bakanda spot on! Plus I have just received another big cheque.

From a shop owners point of view, you do have to beware of shopping comparison - they provide a view of the internet similar to most high streets in the UK - cloned! Many share feeds and many links are to special landing pages, where the price can be adjusted to take into account the link you just clicked on cost the retailler upwards of 30p. You will find that most of the gems and real finds on the internet are hidden within Google. Shopping liberation is available if you want it - just avoid the temptation for a quick fix with Kelkoo and co and head for the results pages in your favourite search engine below pages 1-3, a whole new world awaits...

This is a very interesting post for which many thanks!
Certainly I saved nearly 100 by buying a top of the range Canon printer/scanner from Amazon than PC World (which incidentally did not sell it in their shops, but only internet/mail order?) any one else any comments on this subject?
