Default Where do you Buy your Computer / Device Hardware or Parts Online?

I've used ebuyer for years and seldom had more than a thought to look elsewhere. Is it still the best? Are there worthwhile alternatives in the UK?

ebuyer currently has a promotion on for free next day delivery this month. Plenty of other promotions too, if you can use one.

I always use our local trader. Probably pay a bit more for it, but... I like to support local, and the people are quite switched on.

in the past I have always purchased on line or looked for special bargains at larger retailers.

This time I purchased from a local trader who helped me out (rather expensively but same day service) in dealing with a ransom virus that I thought I had eliminated with Norton specific software. Unfortunately the updated Norton software did not work on a reinfection.

eBuyer mostly, did have a bit of a romance with Scan (Scam) but after they said a graphics card I sent back to them wasn't faulty - when it clearly was in 4 PC's and refunded me for it, made me wait 6 weeks for the refund and then gave me the refund less £25.00 they can go take a running jump.

If Must get bits in a hurry then I use PC World, but only as alst resort.

There was an article in The Register today, which shows:
{eBuyer's] Xmas celebrations hit something of a snag, after one of the photos it posted on Facebook revealed that ebuyer rates its employees based on how many returns they reject.
I must admit that I have been lucky though and never had to return anything to them -- that I can recall.

A very long time ago, I did actually buy something from PC World, when they had a price beating/matching offer on.

I think it depends what you want. I have always found Ebuyer to be fairly useless for gaming related things like recent graphics cards, RAM and the funkier motherboards. In these cases I usually end up at Scan, OCUK or Aria, but Ebuyer is a good place to start for boring stuff.
Amazon 'Basics' for cables IMHO seem far more robust than Ebuyers tat.
For work when buying the odd one-off PC it often seems worth while to go a little off piste and try Lambdatek, but its not a fun experience if you just want to browse.
