Did anyone see the BT spokesman on BBC "Working Lunch" today? He stated "0870 numbers are like Premium numbers ...."!
At last it seems BT are admitting what many of us have been claiming all along. NGNs are being abused and used as covert Premium numbers! I hope someone recorded this statement.

We know that 0870 providers promote 0870 as costing no more than a normal national call. I wonder whether companies who have been sold these numbers have any legal come-back as that is incorrect. If consumers start to 'see' 0870 as a rip-off premium rate, maybe these companies have grounds for legal action against BT and other providers for misleading them and putting consumers off.

BT have updated their website stating that 0845 and 0870 are premium rate.
Select At Home > Home phone services > Pricing information > Residential > UK calls - general > UK call prices |

I hope Scoobs will let me post this here this time, since this version of the site has no pop-ups and no links to "computer dating agencies"!
The 0870 protest Campaign sites are now updated and allow you to submit responses to the latest Ofcom consultation more easily and quickly. (The Ofcom documents are very weighty and would take a long time to go through yourself.) Either of these sites help you to compile your own response much more quickly. I think everyone that is annoyed by these 0870 etc. DPNs should send responses to these consultations to show Ofcom just how many consumers there are that are annoyed by this problem. There are 2 responses to send. Don't foget to send yours! You can use: http://www.freeweb.telco4u.net/rachelf

Hi Scoobs.
Sorry. It had a temporary problem. You should find it back working now.

Well sorry again Scoobs. I have discovered that anyone using any browser other than Mozilla it seems will not be able to access the site at all at present. All they will see is a Site Meter logo!
I really don't understand how that can be, but the techies are apparently working on it and it should be sorted soon. Sorry again that there is a problem on this at present.

I understand that the site is up and running again. The problem was all due to Metatags. Apparently IE and some other browsers cannot accept them in a certain order.
It makes you realise just what a jolly good browser Mozilla is! Anway, everyone should now be able to access it with any browser again on http://www.freeweb.telco4u.net/rachelf
