'Save Picture As' problem

Hi all,

I'm new to the site and i'm hoping someone can help me with a small irritating problem thats beginning to bug me more and more......

When I find a picture on the internet (using Internet Explorer 6.0) and do the standard "right-click" and "save picture as", I no longer get the option to save as a jpeg or gif - just bitmap. My browser also doesn't remember the file name.

I've run my up-to-date virus software (just incase) and found no problems.

Has anyone ever come across this problem?

It's annoying, and I don't know the answer. Someone surely will! But download this super program:Image Resizer

This will change all your piccie files from one format to another, so even if you save as BMP, you can change them to JPG. It's a free download.

usually emptying the cache solves it i believe

I think you have to clear you "cache"

In IE6 go to Tools > Internet Options

Then under the temporary internet files section click "Delete Files".

Welcome to The Scream!

Try emptying your Cache files.

Tools/Internet Options/General tab. Click on the Delete Files.... button, OK out, close Internet Explorer and re-open it and try again to see if that has cleared the problem, if not post back either way.

Deleting the Cache solved the problem and now i'm jepg and gif happy again.

So clever! This problem was driving me bonkers I tell you! I should empty the cache more often.

I read your procedure in message 5.
I checked Save As and it saved as Gif and Bitmap
So I thought I needed JPG in the menu.
Ah I have just thought I tested on a graphic so maybe it would have come up as a JPEG on a proper pic!
Anyway I did what you said and now it only saves a Bitmap!
Help please

Sorry - got it wrong
Tried it on a proper pic and it offered Bitmap and JPEG choice.
Must learn not to panic with computers
