Hello All!
A mate of mine has recently signed up for TalkTalk Broadband. He installed the modem and everything had been working fine. Last night he could not connect to the service (721 error) and thinking it was a modem problem, tried to reinstall it. What's happening now is that Windows is not installing the driver correctly. Everything is fine up until the point he plugs the modem into the USB port. This fires the Found New Hardware Wizard. I've tried removing the drive through Add/Remove programs and even through the setup file in the driver folder in the disk but still no joy. Is there any solution to this? Cheers, Matt |

Physically disconnect the modem.
Run the Add/Remove Programs wizard and remove all the SpeedTouch software. Reboot and ensure that no reference is made to it under installed hardware. Download, install CCleaner and set it to delete temp files immediately. Set it to keep any cookies you may want kept. Now run the cleaner section and then scan for issues. This may take several passes. When no more issues are reported, reboot and install the modem drivers. Use the extended or high speed mode drivers depending upon your circumstances. Only connect the hardware when told to do so.
