Yes if your daft enough not to take some security precautions i.e.
1.disable remote admin both secure and otherwise
2. delete tech account
3. change default admin password and wifi settings
4. disable Upnp
5. Wear a tinfoil hat to ward off the spy rays trying to read the password from your brain
6. teather your goat on a midsummers morn.
7. operate the computer wearing wellies to avoid static discharge

Oops, the last three(5-7) are just my own usual precautions and are not compulsary

I miss anything Pepsi?

ok im getting so frustrated at this: i tried a few months ago to 'downgrade' my firmware to the 6.1.9.6 7G firmware but to no avail, i had someone helping me guiding me through it step by step. i have just started getting alot of trouble with myu router and xbox live now and thought id give it another go at flashing it again. i followed the step by step guide on page 11, but CANNOT get it to work: i have all the settings correct (the static ip etc) and have checked that lines 1 and 130 are correct. the problem is, i get to the point where it says the downgrade has failed (where the installer 'is lying to me') however when my hub restarts and i telnet to it, it still says BT Home Hub 6.2.2.6

can anyone help me PLEASE?

****************

oh my, i cannot believe it, all that grief i suffered...it turend out to be a result of my ethernet cable being plugged into port 2 rather than one!!! oh well, after that problem here is another (and it seems to be a common one): when i telnet the router, admin/admin works fine, but when i go to 192.168.1.254 neither admin/admin nor Administrator/[blank] works any help guys?

ED!T 2: btw, i thought it was worth mentioning, i am currently connected to the net via my newly christened SPeedtouch 7G, connecting to it via the 192.168.1.1 ip address, whenever i try to get my computer to be assigned an ip address (and dns server) automatically it just shows 'limited or no connectivity'. could really do with some help thx

ED!T 3: ive looked through about 10 pages towards the end and ~5 pages after page 11 in this topic and cannot find a solution to this password thing, just people who havent used a capital A in administrator which I HAVE! lol this is sooo frustrating =/

ED!T 4: i even went and downooaded te speedtouch 7G setup guide, after reading through 26 pages of useles twaddle i finally found a page which told me the password!!! i was so happy...tilli realised what it said: 'The Speedtouch(tm) comes with a default user. Its user name is `Administrator` and the default password is blank.' GRRRR, what the hell am i supposed to type!? why is this so difficult!? Lol

ED!T 5: ok, well i telnet'ed to the router and saw something about adding a user, alas this onlyu added it so i could log in via telnet, however this got me wondering, would there be a way to alter the default username/pass via telnet or not??? (i would test this, but have no knowledge in this area and would just be wandering blindly =| ) wow, this has to be the longest first post in history eh?? :P

ED!T 6: oh dear! another problem =[. i tried turning on my 360 to see whether it would connect to XBL without needing anything set up @ 192.168.1.254 and, as i expected it wouldnt sign in. when i went to test connection it said my network adapter wasnt plugged in ie the ethernet cable was not connected. i checked the cable was firmly plugged in to port 2 on my homehub but it still wont work! is it possible the prot #2 doesnt work when speedtouch firmware is installed??

ED!T 7: GOT IT WORKING!!! i tried using firefox and accessing 192.168.1.254 in that, i got the password prompt, entered admin/admin AND IT WORKED ok so now im in the interface, better get things all set up

ED!T 8: hmmmm, this is working already, like i have no need to set up all the PPPOE settings and everything :S oh well guess i have nothing left to complain about...hopefully my 2nd ethernet port will start working now =/

Cyiek, try using firfox or another (non-IE based) browser and use admin admin, tahts what worked for me (maybe it had something to do with the firmware installer, it actually finished installing rather than saying an error at the end)

have you tried logging into the router via telnet, this should give you the correct password or if you hvae flushed all the account you can do a factory reset via system/reset i.e. type system return then reset return. this should set loggin account to
Administrator and blank password

Account to try

admin admin
Administrator

You need to do a factory reset
Open the web browser to 192.168.1.254
it shows a new picture of the back of the HH requesting the serial number and ask you to set the admin password.
Now you can reflash as per normal
