For various reasons I'd like to be able to use a proxy server.
I have found a site which offers a list of some, together with a 'port' number. I currently use a wifi enable laptop (connected by LAN cable) via a 4 port ADSL router and using XP home as the OS. I have attempted to setup one of the proxies via the facility in Internet options LAN settings including the port number, but couldn't get it to work. Should I have made some setting change on my router and/or something else ? Would appreciate an idiots guide to setting this up from anyone who's done so. TIA ![]()

really the only way it's going to work reliably is to pay for a proxy,. the 'free proxys' are generally not going to be any good and get shut down
it depends on the type of proxy,. all you need to do is put the address and port number into your browser http://www.the-scream.co.uk/html/resources/proxies.html |

Thanks for that Silver. I couldn't find it via the 'search' facility.
