Do NOT upgrade to XP SP3 if running AMD processors.

Users running amd processors are finding that Service Pack 3 for XP causes a reboot cycle.

The only way out of this is to boot into safe mode & uninstall SP3.

Apparently it's to do with lazy oem manufacturers rather than Microsoft.

Did you install XP yourself or still with the manufacturers install/restore ?

Installed it all by myself with no help from anyone lol (one fresh install other upgrade sp2-sp3)

I slipstreamed SP3 into my XP installation disc & did fresh installs on both my comps, both work fine & both are several years old now. Home built one running an Athlon xp1800 & the other an Athlon xp2600. No probs at all.

It's actually being discussed (link Below) with some fixes, for people having problems.
Mine was/is the ACPI error so not going to bother with SP3 until official fix is out.

Did the sp3 via Windows Update on two different PCs. Both Intel I think. One a Fujitsu (XP home) and one a HP e-pc (XP Pro). Both around 5 years old. Worked fine - but allow an hour or so. For ages it looks like nothing is happening - so be patient!

No difference at all to speed, appearance or anything else.
