DefaultHow do I restart my WRT54G from net ?

Hi all ,

I was wondering how do I restart my WRT54G from net ?
I mean even when I am connected to it using ethernet there is no option to restart it unless I press the button manually at the back..

I don't know if you can do this from "outside". Can you log into it from the net?

Hi snoozy ,

Thanks for your reply and I went to the link that you provided but its for a WRT54G in the Sveasoft Firmware and I don't think that mine is cos I do not have the "Run" button in my "Diagnostics" page.
Mine is the Original firmware v1.001

Thanks for trying though.

Any other ideas ?

With my router, I can login on (specified port) from anywhere in the world, so long as I know my IP address.

If you're running a Windows PC, double-click the "two TV" symbol in the right-hand corner Notification Area (next to the clock). In the new window, click on "Support" and you should see "Default Gateway" then some numbers which either start with 192. or 10.

Open up your web browser (eg Internet Explorer) and type those numbers into your address bar and hit enter. My Default Gatweay is 10.0.0.101, so I would open up Internet Explorer and enter 10.0.0.101 and hit the enter key, which will prompt me to log in.

If you get a login prompt (asking for username and/or password) then refer back to your user guide for those. If you get your Linksys router page straight away then you're in

From here, go to http://www.whatismyip.com and take a note of your IP Address. Now, type this address into your address bar and hit enter - you should get the same results as earlier. If so, you can use this IP address to connect to your router setup pages anywhere in the world with internet access.

Good look.

Thanks Olozzj,

I can access my router remotely but I was wondering if I could re-start my router remotely.
Its a WRT54G and has no reboot function on its configaration page.It only has a factory default option.

The majority of routers allow you to locally (and remotely) reboot them. If you're sure there are no hidden buttons or menus on the router's page, then I'd suggest you try a firmware upgrade. If this still doesn't give any joy, clearly the router doesn't have the option - so you'd need to purchase a new one.

Hiya.

Can you access the Web Interface of the router. ?

Maybe you can reboot it by just saving the settings. On most Routers, a restart/reboot is actioned once the Save Settings button is applied.

Hiya.

There is some info in the link below, one guy recommends a 3rd party firmware ( 3 names were mentioned ) and there are a couple of browser Address bar commands at the bottom of the page.

I have no idea if the commands work remotely or if they are even appropriate, so use at your own discretion.

I can access the router thru the IP address and the port but just cannot reboot it .

I was able to soft reset my Linksys WRT54G router firmware v1.009 remotely using a hidden reboot page as no reboot button was found on the admin page. Steps below:

1. Login into the web admin page of your router. I believe the default gateway is .
2. Go to the following page /Reset.htm
3. That should do it

Genius fix. Thank you.

But it's kinda silly that there's no button.
